Our healing benefits all of us

A mountain range and horizon

Offerings

I provide psychotherapy to individuals (teens & adults), partners, and families, with a focus on AAPI, BIPOC, immigrant, LGBTQ+, and neurodivergent folx. I have an affinity for students, tech workers, activists, and those in the helping profession. I am accepting new clients for in-person sessions in San Francisco and anywhere in California for Telehealth.

Individual

When we come to therapy we might want support with one issue only to discover much more. I work with you to identify root causes for meaningful change. It is often a challenging but rewarding journey.

Partners

You may find yourself trapped in the same frustrating patterns. You care for each other and want to make it work, but don't know how to move forward. Couples therapy can help you build the relationship you desire.

EMDR

Often trauma is not something we can just talk or think our way through. I provide Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) for effective treatment. I can work with you individually or in collaboration with your existing therapist.

Approach

Mindful & Compassionate

In our sessions together we will deeply listen to whatever is on your mind. I will often invite us to slow down, noticing and making space for what might be just below the surface. Non-judgmental awareness is the first step to lasting change. When we spend time listening to our different parts we gain insight into who we are. This understanding allows us to let go of limiting beliefs and make different choices. Therapy is a place to rest, play, and experiment with a new way of being in the world. Things may feel awkward, frustrating, or painful at first – we are learning something new after all! But with patience and practice, you will be able to experience life with more joy and harmony.

While talking is certainly powerful, I also incorporate somatic and experiential components. My approach is informed by gestalt, IFS, Hakomi, and Buddhist philosophy. I hold a social justice lens and see much of our distress as symptoms of systemic oppression. I am non-pathologizing and believe the seeds of growth are already within us – it just takes some watering.

We all deserve a life rooted in dignity and meaning. It would be an honor to support you.

about

About

Michelle Wong (she/they)

As a Chinese, queer, second generation immigrant, I understand the struggles of navigating different cultural value systems. I deeply empathize with being highly sensitive, continuously striving for perfection, and always putting others first.

Growing up in a middle class, immigrant family, I pursued a "practical" career in STEM. And while I checked many of the boxes that would supposedly bring me happiness, I was never satisfied. I was isolated, feeling unfulfilled in work and in relationships. Therapy supported me in getting back in touch with my creativity, aliveness, and spirit. I hope to support others in returning to connection with themselves, others, and our planet. This work is important to me because our healing contributes to building a more kind, compassionate, and just society.

I am an engaged Buddhist and practice in the Plum Village tradition. I enjoy experimenting in the kitchen and spending time outdoors.
